Salsabil Studio ("we", "us", "our") makes and publishes the Quran Quiz – Memorization Test app (the "app"). We built Quran Quiz to help people of all ages learn and revise the Quran, and we take the trust of our players and their families seriously.
This policy explains what information the app collects, why we collect it, who can see it, and the choices you have.
Privacy at a glance
- You sign in with Google to play. We store only what is needed to save your progress, run Halaqah study groups and show the in-app leaderboard.
- Your display name and the avatar you choose appear on a leaderboard that every signed-in player can see. You choose your display name and can change it at any time in Settings, and deleting your account removes you from the leaderboard.
- There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we never sell your information.
- Quran Quiz Pro is an optional subscription paid through Google Play. We never receive your card or other payment details.
- You can delete your account and your data at any time from inside the app.
1. Information we collect
Playing as a guest
Signing in with Google is how you start playing. If you used Quran Quiz without an account before this version, that progress stays on your device and is never sent to us; it is removed if you uninstall the app.
Signing in with Google
Signing in is optional. It lets you save your progress to your account, continue on another device, and join Halaqah study groups. When you sign in with Google, Google shares the following with us:
- your email address
- your name
- your Google profile photo
- a unique identifier for your Google account
We never receive your Google password.
Your profile
Your profile consists of a display name and an avatar, which are shown in Halaqah study groups and on the leaderboard. When you first sign in, the display name is taken from your Google account. The avatar is one of the drawings that ship inside the app: we store only which one you chose, never an image. You can change either at any time in Settings.
Profile photos taken from Google before this version are still stored for those players and are never shown on the leaderboard; you can replace yours with an avatar in Settings. The app does not access photos on your device.
Your progress
To save your learning progress to your account, we store:
- the levels you have unlocked and completed, with your best score and stars for each
- Full Juz challenges you have completed
- your General Knowledge progress for each difficulty
- the achievements you have earned
- totals such as the number of questions answered and levels completed
Your score on the leaderboard
When you finish a level we store the experience points (XP) it earned, your daily streak, the date of your last active day and your score for the current week. The app sends the date shown on your own device with each of these, so that a streak follows your day rather than a clock in another time zone. We do not store your location or time zone.
Halaqah study groups
If you create or join a Halaqah, we store:
- the groups you create or join, including each group's name and join code
- your points in each group
- the days on which you complete a group's daily challenge
- for groups you create, which Juz the daily challenge rotates through
Quran Quiz Pro subscriptions
Quran Quiz Pro is an optional paid subscription for signed-in users. Payments are handled by Google Play; we never receive your card number or other payment details.
When you subscribe or restore a purchase, the app sends our server the purchase token that Google Play gives it, and our server checks it directly with Google. We then store, linked to your account:
- the subscription and plan (monthly or annual)
- the subscription status, whether it renews, and when the current period ends, as reported by Google
- Google Play's purchase token and order number for the subscription
- whether it was a test purchase, and when we last checked it with Google
Google Play also notifies our server when a subscription is renewed, cancelled, refunded or expires, so that your Pro access stays correct.
When you contact us
Contact Us in Settings opens the email app on your device, addressed to info.quranquiz@gmail.com. The Quran Quiz app does not send or store your message itself. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use them only to reply to you.
Information that stays on your device
Some information never leaves your device, including your sound, vibration and timer settings and the Juz you tell the app you have memorised, which is used to personalise your daily challenge. When you are signed in, the app also keeps a sign-in session on your device so that you stay logged in. Reminder notifications are scheduled on your device; no information is sent to us to show them.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your location, contacts, phone number or advertising identifiers. Quran Quiz contains no advertising, no analytics and no crash-reporting services. Payment details for Quran Quiz Pro are handled by Google Play and never reach us.
2. How we use your information
We use your information only to provide Quran Quiz:
- to sign you in and keep your account secure
- to save your progress and keep it in sync across your devices
- to run Halaqah study groups, including points, leaderboards, daily challenges and group streaks
- to give you Quran Quiz Pro and keep your subscription status correct, by checking it with Google Play
- to respond when you contact us
We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
3. What other players can see
The leaderboard
Quran Quiz has a leaderboard inside the app. Everyone who is signed in can see it, and it lists every signed-in player. For each player it shows three things and nothing else:
- the display name on their profile
- the avatar they chose, if they chose one — never a profile photo
- their XP for the week, or their total XP
It never shows an email address, an account identifier, a country, a streak or anything about which levels a player has done. Every signed-in player is listed. Because the board shows only the display name you choose, you can use a nickname instead of your real name, and you can change it at any time in Settings. Deleting your account removes you from the leaderboard straight away.
This is a change from earlier versions of Quran Quiz, where a display name was visible only to members of the same Halaqah.
Halaqah study groups
A Halaqah is a private study group that people join with a join code. Members of the same group can see a limited amount of information about each other:
| Visible to members of your Halaqah | Not visible to other members |
|---|---|
|
|
Anyone who has a group's join code can join that group and see the information above. Share join codes only with people you know and trust.
4. Service providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the app:
- Supabase hosts our database and manages account sign-in. Your account data is stored in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). Supabase Privacy Policy
- Google provides Sign in with Google, distributes the app through Google Play, processes Quran Quiz Pro payments, and hosts our support inbox (Gmail). Google Privacy Policy
5. How we protect your information
- All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS.
- Access rules on our servers ensure that only you can read or change your account data. Other Halaqah members can see only the limited information described in section 3.
- Display names and avatars are checked on our servers: a name is limited in length and cleaned of control characters, and an avatar must be one of the illustrations built into the app — photographs and uploaded images are refused.
No method of storing or transmitting information is completely secure, but we work hard to protect yours.
6. How long we keep your information
- Guest data stays on your device until you uninstall the app or clear its data.
- Account data is kept for as long as your account exists.
- Quran Quiz Pro records are kept for as long as your account exists and are deleted with your account. Google Play keeps its own records of your purchases under Google's Privacy Policy.
- When you delete your account, your data is removed from our live database immediately. Our hosting provider keeps daily backups of the database for up to 7 days, after which no copy of the deleted data remains.
7. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app:
- Open Quran Quiz and go to Settings.
- Tap Manage account data.
- Tap Delete account.
- Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete forever.
Your account is deleted immediately, together with your profile, your progress, achievements and statistics, your Halaqah memberships, points and challenge history, and your Quran Quiz Pro subscription records. If you created a Halaqah, that group is deleted for all of its members. This cannot be undone.
Deleting your Quran Quiz account does not delete your Google account.
Deleting your Quran Quiz account does not cancel a Quran Quiz Pro subscription. To stop being charged, cancel it in Google Play › Subscriptions.
If you cannot open the app, email info.quranquiz@gmail.com from the Google email address you signed in with, using the subject "Delete my Quran Quiz account". We will delete your account within 30 days and confirm by email. You can also see our account deletion page.
8. Your rights and choices
- Access: you can view your profile, progress and groups in the app at any time.
- Correction: you can change your display name and your avatar in Settings.
- Deletion: you can delete your account and data at any time, as described in section 7.
- Using the app without an account: you can sign out and play as a guest at any time.
If you would like a copy of your data or have any other privacy request, email us at info.quranquiz@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, for example in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under data protection law, and you can contact us to exercise them.
9. Children's privacy
Quran Quiz is intended for people aged 13 and over, and it is listed on Google Play for that age group. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
- No account is needed to play. Anyone, including a younger family member studying with a parent, can use the app as a guest. Guest progress stays on the device and is never sent to us.
- Signing in requires a Google account. Google sets its own minimum age for Google accounts, which is 13 in most countries, and accounts for younger children must be created and managed by a parent through Google Family Link.
- No ads or tracking. The app shows no advertising and contains no analytics or tracking tools.
- Family guidance for Halaqah. Everyone in a study group can see your display name, avatar and points. Avatars are illustrations built into the app, never photographs. We recommend using a nickname and sharing join codes only with people you know, such as family members, teachers or a mosque or madrasah class.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has created an account or shared personal information with us, please contact us at info.quranquiz@gmail.com and we will delete the account and its data.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add new features. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If a change significantly affects how we handle your information, we will give a more prominent notice.
